How do I pull code violations records step by step?
The City of Cincinnati publishes its code enforcement cases and complaints in the Code Enforcement dataset on data.cincinnati-oh.gov, its official open data portal.
Go to the City of Cincinnati Open Data Portal
Navigate to data.cincinnati-oh.gov, the City of Cincinnati's official open data portal. Code enforcement cases for Cincinnati (Hamilton County) are published here.
Open the Code Enforcement dataset
Search the portal for Code Enforcement (under Thriving Neighborhoods), or go straight to the dataset page. Each row is one code enforcement case or complaint.
View the data table
The dataset opens in a spreadsheet-style explorer with columns like Number Key (the case number), Comp Type Desc (the complaint type), Data Status Display, and Full Address.
Filter and sort for fresh cases
In the Filters panel at the bottom, pick the status column (Data Status Display) and set it to open cases if you only want active complaints. Then open the Entered Date column menu and sort it descending so the newest cases are on top.
Export the list as a CSV
Click Export in the top right, keep Download file selected with the format set to CSV, and click Download.
Record the data
For each case, capture the case number, complaint type, status, full property address, and the entered date. Match the address against the Hamilton County Auditor to find the owner and mailing address.
