Step 1: Go to Harris County Clerk's Office
2

Navigate to Probate Search

Click Courts in the top navigation, then select Probate Courts. This opens the probate case search interface.

3

Set Filing Date Range

Enter the File Date range (MM/DD/YYYY format). Set to the last few days to find new filings.

4

Submit Search

Click Search and wait for results. The grid shows case numbers, filing dates, and case styles.

5

Identify Estate Cases

Look for cases with "IN THE ESTATE OF" in the style. Skip cases titled "IN THE GUARDIANSHIP OF" or "Wills for Safekeeping" — these are not estate administration.

6

Open Case Detail

Click a case number to view the detail page. Check the Events tab for Date of Death, the Parties tab for executor/administrator name and address, and the Documents tab for downloadable PDFs.

7

Download Documents

Click View Edocs links to download PDFs. The application for probate contains the decedent's name, date of death, heirs, and property information.

8

HCAD Property Lookup

After finding the decedent's name, search search.hcad.org (Harris County Appraisal District) to find the property address, parcel number, and assessed value.

9

Record the Data

For each case, record: Case Number, Decedent Name, Date of Death, Executor Name & Address, Property Address (from HCAD), and Filing Date.
