Go to the San Francisco Open Data Portal
Navigate to data.sfgov.org (DataSF). This is the City and County of San Francisco's official open data portal.
Open the Building Inspection Complaints dataset
Search for Department of Building Inspection Complaints (All Divisions) and open it, or go directly to the dataset page. It lists complaints filed with the Department of Building Inspection about building, housing, electrical, and plumbing code problems.
View the data table
Open the Data tab (or click Actions > Query data) to open the full table. Each row is one complaint with its address, parcel number, and current status.
Filter to active complaints
Click Filter and add a condition on the Status column to keep only active or open complaints, skipping ones already abated or closed.
Sort by newest complaints first
Click the Date Filed column header and choose Sort Descending so the most recently filed complaints appear at the top.
Export the list
Click Export and choose CSV to download the filtered list for a spreadsheet or your CRM.
Record the Data
For each lead, capture the Complaint Number, the Complaint Description, the Status, the address (Street Number + Street Name + Street Suffix), the ZIP Code, the Parcel Number (block/lot), and the Date Filed. Use the parcel number on the SF Assessor-Recorder site to find the owner.
